How is this stat figured? Aren't you on the green at best 16 out of 18 holes? So you would want this to be a low %, right?

I think you would want it high. 16/18 islike 87% or something

IF you chip in from just off the green, that's good, therefore I think you would want a low %

higher the better....for example on a par four, a green in regulation is on in 2, on in regulation means 2 putts for par, so par 3 on in 1, par 4 on in 2 and par 5 on in 3.
16 out of 18 is very good.
i think the leaders on tour are usually about 70-73%

correct, you only get credit for a GIR if you are on in the number or less that i stated
