( * ) Monthly Veterans Memorial Service at the Leavenworth National Cemetery – This Service is for deceased veterans and spouses who do not have a family in the area or do not have family period. The deceased have not received any honors at their passing. That is what this service is for to provide them an Honor and a dignified memorial service. This service takes place at the committal shelter at the Leavenworth National Cemetery the last Thursday of every month at 3:00 PM (1500). ALR and the Patriot Guard ride together in honor of these veterans. Staging area in Leavenworth, Kansas is at the Western Sizzlin steakhouse (1 block north of Eisenhower Road on K-7 highway) at 2:15 PM. Kickstands up at 2:45 PM. A short ride of 5 minutes north to the VA Cemetery where we check in with the funeral director (who is very excited the American Legion Riders and the Patriot Guard are participating in this ceremony). We then ride thru the cemetery to the Committal Shelter where the ceremony will take place. The past few months we've had 15 to 25 riders along with Post 370 Honor Guard and Ceremonial Unit and buglers from the Leavenworth area and local VFW and American Legion members.
