I decide since we are still at port that I would go and collect some items before we sail set. I wander the strangely deserted streets and make my way to Old Man Gill's.
The stench of the alleyway I walk down is putrid but i know I must pick up this one parcel before going away.
I gingerly open the door and hear a bell ring.
The shop itself is dark, the inside is not as clean as you would like.
A small man approaches with long white hair and a beard, he leans on his walking stick.
"Good day, Old Man Gill."
The man nods, his tongue was cut out in a dreadful fight many years ago, he knows me though and sets out the back to get the small package I desire.
I look about me, the strange feeling I have been followed hits me. No, of course not, there seems to be a thief on the ship. Many things happened before I arrived and I believe everyone is busy with the aftermath.
The old man comes back towards me holding a small package wrapped in old newspapers. I unwrap them, check what's inside and sniff softly.
Perfect.
I thank Old Man Gill: "I do not know when I next return but thankyou for your service, old man."
I press two gold coins into his hand and make my way back to the ship.....

After sneaking off 'The Kingston' I decided to head out into the town before returning to my own ship.
The air is quiet tonight. Almost too quiet. Captain Warner and his foolish followers are out somewhere in the town raiding Mr Stubb's shop. I better not bump into them!
As I pass Old Man Gill's shop I spot a man I recognise from 'The Kingston' leaving. I duck behind a lamp post and watchhim leave. Phew! He didn't see me!
I enter Old Man Gill's shop.
"Hey there Old Man," I say to him. He knows me and waves hello. "That man just in here... what does he do?"
Old Man Gill took out a piece of paper and wrote BOTANIST on it.
"And what did you just sell him?"
Old Man Gill did not tell me. He was a good man.
As I left the shop the botanist got me thinking. Why did Warner have a botanist onboard with him?
As I was planning to get to wherever it was 'The Kingston' was going first, I realised that I too would probably need a botanist and set off to find one.

I left the ship knowing I now had a safe place to stay and the trip might just take me closer to my parents.
I walk into a shop to look for a telescope of some sort when an old man walks up.
"Hello, I am looking for a telescope" I say freindly.
"LOOKING FOR A TELESCOPE" I yell as loud as I can, because the man isn't responding.
Then the man reaches for a lead pencil I stop him before he grabs it
"Not a pencil you old goat, A TELESCOPE" I yell now even louder.
the old man grabs the pencil and writes
"There is nothing wrong with my ears moron, I cant talk, I don't have one."
"O, right I'll look around"
After a while i found a small binocular "this wil have to do"
I pay the man from my first salery and walk out with the binocular.

"good morning Old Man Gill," I say as I enter the shop. Gill smiles and waves to me. He was such a friendly man Gill, but very secretive about his past - especially about the night he lost his tongue. It mad eme wonder if his past was a little sordid, somethnig he'd rather forget.
Old Man Gills shop sold bits and bobs. You could find almost anythnig you were looking for within these walls.
I browsed for a moment until I found what it was I wnted. A chest. A nice big wooden chest.
"How much for this chest Gill?" I ask. Gill hold up five fingers. A fiar price. Gills prices were always fair.
As I take the chest over to the till, Gill writes down on some paper.
"Its good to see you back again Suse," he writes, "what do you need the chest for?"
"Oh its just for some of Captain Blanks personnal belongings," I reply, "unfortunatly we lost the captain whilst out at sea. I decided to send his belongings to his family."
I pay Gill for the chest and we say goodbye to one another. As I leave the ship, another person enters but I do not get a chance to look at their face.

A woman walked by me as I entered the shop.
This was my first visit to Old Man Gills hop but I had heard you can get almost anything here.
I needed a notepad and quill and ink. Desperatly as all of mine had run out earier today.
Old Man gill was sitting quietly by the counter so I thought I'd have a look around.
As I looked at the contents on a shelf (which was full of unsual looking trinkets) the door opened and a man came into the shop.
I didn't make myself noticed. I just stood behind the shelf and watched the man curiously...

Old Man Stubbs' shop was dark and had the smell of years old dust in the air. It had always been like this. Ever since I was a young child this shop had been here. Of course Old Man Gill was not so old back. And he could still speak.
He nodded to me as I entered and I gave him a slight wave. To be honest, I did not think that he trusted me.
Not many people in Port Town did trust me anymore. Oh they knew that I was still the best map maker in the country, but since may stint in jail people teneded to stay away.
I had changed in jail though, for the btter ni my opinion. Although my love for Sophie still remained, I knew that we would never be together and had got used to it. My hatred toward Dr B had also subsided, although the news of the Kingstons return was nt pleasing to my ears. After all, it was members of the Kingstons crew thatt were responsbile for the death of my brother.
I had accepted it now though. I knew that my brother had attacked them first, but it was still painful to think of and I would NOT be joining the Kingstons crew for tea and crumpets.
I found what I was looking for and took it over to Old Man Gill. Lookin back I couldn't help get the feeling that I was being watched. Perhaps I was just being paranoid.
I paid for my item and left the shop...

I watched as another man entered the shop. He was Sleepy I.
I recognised him from the Kingstons crew manifest.
He walked up to the counter and asked Old Man Gill if he had any laxatives. Old Man Gill told him that he did and he got some down from a shelf. It was a small box of laxatives that cost more then they should but Sleepy I bought them anyway.
I grinned. Sleepy I must have bad constapation to pay that much money for laxatives.

Sleep I ran past, heading towards the station. I noticed another man nearby watching his movments.
A needed a new broom, Old Man Gill should have one in his shop. My mind was still patchy on the events that happened since Devils Island. I needed another broom so it would confort me into remembering my chinese herratage.
"Excuse Gill. I need new broom, do you have any for sale?"
