It was still dark and the sea was calm, the ship bobbed softly up and down on the small waves.
The moon illuminated the deck, it was beautiful.
I walked out onto the deck and looked around, I was alone.
I sighed and stood by the side of the boat, my arms folded as I leant against the side.

I stared out to sea, so much water no land in sight.
It was a scary thought to think that I was kept from drowning in the cold water by a wooden ship.
I always wondered to myself how we floated, if anything went wrong that no one would know we were gone.

I stared up at the stars on this clear night, so many stars, someone had once told me they were the map of the sea.
Some bright and some dim ones, all the different constilations it fasinated me.
I could stand here and stare at the stars forever.
But soon the sun would rise and they would fade away, being forgotten for another day.

"Ahh the stars!" I said, taking in the cool air as I walked over to the doctor, "you know some people say that the stars are diamonds in the sky, and whoever can reach out to take them will become the ricest men on the planet."

I lit a cigar and began to puff on it.

"I plan to be that man!" I continued.

I turned and looked to the doctor. She was an attractive woman, yet I saw sadness in her eyes. After spending all this time on the Knigston, I knew what sadness was.

"I often come out here at night," I said eventually, "I have to get out of my quarters. The damn dwarf snores so loudly it could probably be heared back in port town! What brings you out here doctor?"

I smiled at his comment about Togan.
"Nothing really" she said, "I dont know, something...and yet nothing" I said.

I continued to stare up at the stars, "If you reach the stars, I'll be right up there with you" I said to him and ran my fingers through my hair pushing it out of my eyes.

"Its just so quiet out here, I'm not used to it being so crowded around me."

She would be up there with me? In any other situation I would have scoffed and said soemthing along the lines of 'the riches of the stars are mine and mine alone!' but for some reason I never.

Maybe it was the peace of the night, or maybe it was the way the doctor flicked her hair. I had always had a thing for the women!
Either way, I held my tongue, letting her think she would join me up in the stars.

Some sort of party seemed to be going on in the recreation room. Music was being played, no doubt by our resident entertainer Johnny Finklle. Even up here on the deck the music and the laughter could just be heard, muffled in the background.

"Did you attend the party at all?" I asked. I had not bothered. I wanted some time to myself and my book.

"I was there for a moment" I said and turned away from the sea.
"I dont much care for parties" I said, "Its not that I dont like them, I just dont enjoy them."

"Yiour a novelist right?" she asked him, "Are you writing anythig at the moment?"

Togan the Dwarf

"He's writing about me, aren't you George?!" I patted him on the back almost knocking off his spectacles.

I butted into the conversation, "me and George are real good friends, aren't we George?"I said to Aurora and then back to the novelist. "You know George is one of the funniest men I have ever met? He makes me bellow with laughter in our quarters!" I said with a plesant rumble.

There was a touch of silence so I started again, "I can write you know, I can't spell but I can write. Can I write in your book George?"

I grinned at Togan and gave a small laugh, he was such a funny little man, so many bright comments and laughter within him.
I let them talk and turned away noticing the young girl scetching us, I had not seen her around the ship before and was now curious.
But I dared not say anything yet, so I just continued to stare out to sea as the sun began to rise.

It was as if no time at all had passed since I first came onboard the ship, so many things had happened and yet it still felt like the same day I arrived.
You could loose yourself here really you could, with only the sun and the moon to go by years could have passed it was quite entancing to think about it.

I looked up to see the sunrise.
i had draw a lot but a few mistakes as usual were made i went to continue to draw when i noticed that my charcol had completly ran out.
I folded my pice of paper carfuly so i didn't damage the work i hav all ready done I thought to my self i souldn't be so scared of meeting new people.
these people are diffrent they seem more friendly than the people i have.

I plucked up my corage and walked over to the group that was sitting there, they looked at me.
"Hi" i said. "my names angleofdarkness.... the 9000 is a long story, made by my old captain....."

I smiled at the young girl and turned away from the others to talk to her.
"My, I can remember being your age, I'm Aurora....I hasven't seen you around before."
I pushied my hair from my eyes and looked down at her, a pretty young girl, young...what was such a young girl doing on a journey like this?
I dare not ask as I did not want to come across as rude.
