Hello 1PW fans, and welcome back to the Insider. After all the tumultuous and chaotic events of the past few months here in 1PW, this is a column The Insider never thought he would be penning, but here we stand, 45 days until The Resurrection is upon us. As the quote says, we build castles in the air, and now is the time for 1PW, in its extra-ordinary second chance at life, to build the foundations under them, and to prove to the wrestling word that mistakes have been learned from, and that the new 1PW can both pay homage to the past, whilst learning from those mistakes past. The Insider knows that April 6th, the Doncaster Dome will be rocked like never before. Its YOUR energy, YOUR passion and YOUR enthusiasm that is the beating heart of One Pro Wrestling, and you crazy bastards are going to lift the roof off that place come Good Friday.
Well The Insider is still getting back into the swing of things here, but he promises as always to bring you hot rumours and gossip from Inside 1PW.
This KRUGER guy everyone is talking about ? 1PW don’t seem to be giving much information up about the guy, but The Insider can tell you this is no “ generic monster “ . This near seven foot, 300 + pounder, is a veteran of the mat, and has plied his trade throughout the rings of Europe and Japan. The Insider thinks any fans expecting a plodding generic big man are dead wrong. The Kruger can really go, and in addition to the most sickening range of power moves, this man is well versed in technical and submission wrestling. The Insider has actually managed to get hold of footage of The Kruger from several years ago, wrestling 1PW’s own ULF HERMAN. Very interesting is all I can say, and maybe Ulf isn’t quite so indestructible as you all believe. This footage will be put out, The Insider promises you of this.
Speaking of the 1PW World Heavyweight Champion ULF HERMAN, congratulations to the soul of 1PW, who finally won the big one, and was crowned 1PW Champion at the controversial Will Not Die Event. Ulf has signed to defend the 1PW World Title in Vienna, Austria on March 17th. The Insider heard rumours of who his opponent might be, and let me tell you, its going to be a cold day in Vienna.
The Insider heard about the Doncaster Dome banning the use of Barbed Wire after the gruesome spectacle that was the Anniversary No Ropes Barbed Wire Match. Apparently 1PW officials were locked into days worth of negotiations on the matter, and the definite answer is NO WAY, EVER AGAIN. Apparently Doncaster Council will have officials positioned at the Resurrection event to ensure absolutely no Barbed Wire is used in any way , shape or form.
It’s a damn shame, cos The Insider is one sick puppy, and he wanted to see carnage!!! Oh well, you know that old wrestling saying, “ never say never “ , or was it “ be careful what you wish for, you just might get it “ .. either way, damn you Doncaster Council for spoiling The Insiders bloodthirsty fun.
March 5th 1PW breaks new ground, and does what no other British Promotion has ever done, as 1PW DVDs are released into top retail stores including HMV, Virgin, Woolworths, Asda and Tesco. The Insider is proud of every single fan that has supported 1PW this far, and has helped them to get to this point. This really is huge news for British Wrestling, and things can only get better from here on out. The Insider also heard that in addition to the four scheduled releases, 1PW has negotiated with the DVD company to have the Resurrection show ( which will be the first show will the super new production values ) released directly to retail. It is thought it will be out in May, and that this will be the pattern for all future 1PW “ A” shows.
Well the NWE deal has certainly been a talking point for 1PW fans. The Insider wants to point out that the NWE roster is ever evolving, and this could pave the way for some extremely exciting names from the International scene appearing in 1PW. Seriously, even if I told you some of the names that have been discussed I doubt you would believe me.
The first batch of NWE wrestlers landing in Doncaster will certainly give a new and unique challenge to 1PW regulars, with STERLING JAMES KEENAN fighting for the NWE Championship against ROMEO ROSELLI ( The Insider has seen footage of Romeo post WWE and he thinks a LOT of fans will be very surprised, and that SJK is in for the fight of his life in his first chance at a European based title ) , 1PW Open Weight Champion PAC facing the ever controversial JUVENTUD GUERRERA ( controversial is surely a fit for 1PW no ? ) , EL LIGERO getting the biggest opportunity of his career against the legendary ULTIMO DRAGON ( The Insiders pick for show stealer ) and finally MAD MAN MANSON fighting JOHN HEIDENREICH ( can you spell un-orthodox ? - The Insider thinks neither of these guys can, but it won’t stop this match from being the damned craziest thing ever seen in the Dome )
JAY PHOENIX and 1PW GM ADAM CURTIS have been spending a LOT of time together since the snivelling Curtis’ promotion, palling about, drinking beers and such. The Insider thinks sadly Jay could go all the way in 1PW this year, and that it will prove the old adage, its not what you know, its who you know. The Insider just wants to make one thing clear; he HATES Adam Curtis with a passion. He was GLAD when SJK nearly broke Adams neck, and he hopes its only the first beating of many for Adam and his new bum buddy.
DARKSIDE has been bitching and moaning to anyone that would listen that he is the saviour of 1PW, and 1PW would not have been able to be re-born without his contributions to the product.
Tag Team wrestling is coming back …. SLOAN & BURNS are training hard every day on their quest to make a huge impact in the new 1PW. If the UK’s tag team specialists can match marks in the W column, with their level of dedication, then the sky is the limit.
Finally, preparations are well underway for 1PW’s HUGE June double header KNOW YOUR ENEMY WEEKEND . The Insider knows that half of the roster for this event is already confirmed. There will be firm favourites, some extra-ordinary new faces that 1PW fans wont believe, and how about the return of one or two former 1PW wrestlers that previously made a huge impact in the company ?
