Has anyone ever read this book? If not, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who likes very detailed novels. The book is over 1000 pages (the thing is so frikkin' think it started falling apart the second time I read it) and is more or less about an English sailor who runs aground on the Japanese Islands. I won't really go into detail about it unless someone asks me something.

Anywho, discuss.......

i read it. Very well done. His book Gaijin was not that good though. However, he redeemed himself with King Rat. that has to be the only book to be make me sad with the ending. Its so apathetic and sad. The fates of the men are not to be envied.

He definately has his moments though.

BTw, Toranaga is the shiz!

I almost did, remember? But my mom, being how she is, wouldn't get it because it was unrated......... *random corny spooky noise*

Ya know, I really wish she didn't use the whole philosophy based on her assumption that everything revolves around her. She sees a movie, and if she doesn't like it (and it happens to be rated R or unrated), then she goes on to say that I can't see it becauuse she doesn't like to see what was in the movie.

WTF!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!???

Its only unrated because of violence. There is sex, but its implied sex.

There are guys getting their heads chopped off and so forth but come on! Its feudal japan with angry smaurai.
